Power Management Software
Power management software offers one of the best opportunities for us to reduce energy waste and associated air pollution at UNH. Power management software comes built-in to many of today's computers.
For information on activating power management on your computer, click here to visit UNH Computing and Information Services' web page on power management
- If you are ordering your computer from the UNH computer store with software setup included, ask the CIS folks to activate power management software for maximum energy savings while they are setting up your other software.
- Don't use the "blank screen" or "none" options under the screen saver settings in Windows. Even though your screen will go black, it's still wasting lots of energy and creating needless air pollution. Find the true power management features in you computer's operating manual.
- Order only EPA designated "Energy Star" computer equipment to ensure that energy saving features will be available to you.
If you did not purchase your system as an integrated package, or your monitor does not have the Energy Star logo seal, call the CIS Help Desk at 2-4242 to make sure your monitor is power management compatible.
